Joo Won Shin (born July 15) is a Korean singer, actress and dancer. Mostly notably, Ms Shin was the starring singer in the Netflix drama series, Squid Game, season 1 & 2. She sang a cover rendition of "Fly Me to the Moon" that was featured in the most critical and emblematic scene of the entire series (so-called the "Red Light-Green Light" or "The Flower of Rose Sharon has Bloomed" scene).
Due to the monumental success of Squid Game, Ms. Shin's prior notable achievements may appear to pale in comparison. However, it should be emphasized that her lead/starring roles in past theatrical performances were distinguished productions of high reputation. 13 Fruitcakes was performed at La MaMa Theatre in NYC, in Seoul, and at the Edinburgh Festival. She is also actively creating original music as a songwriter and performer. In addition to her solo work, she is a band member of Enter Sceptre, and has been working across many different genres and styles of music, exploring a wide artistic range beyond her theatrical and television work. |
